The Artistic Table at Hillwood

The Artistic Table at Hillwood

Marjorie Merriweather Post may have earned her fortune from cereal and frozen foods, but this seasoned hostess paid attention to every detail when it was time to entertain. Whether aboard her historic yacht, vacationing at Mar-a-Lago, or dining at her historic Hillwood Estate, Post’s attention to detail and entertaining style makes this tastemaker one of the greats.

Once the private estate of Marjorie Merriweather Post, Hillwood has transformed into a museum full of the heiress’s extensive collection of art and artifacts. Some of the top designers from around the country had the opportunity to modernize Post’s historic tableware. Leontine Linens worked closely with designer Alex Papachristidis as he brought Post’s historic floral porcelain to life.

Alex came to Leontine with a vision--to make Post's tableware modern and current. He began with a leopard tablecloth to play off of the neutrals and golds from the tableware. With beautifully designed florals matching the pattern of the porcelain, he was determined to, above all else, imagine how Post would set the table today. Playing off the Russian Porcelain and beautiful flowers, he used a dark napkin with bold threads to tie the table together.

This project continues to inspire us to pull the China out of the closet and use it. Taking the time to make a beautiful table gives the opportunity to add expression and beauty into everyday living. We are honored to be included in such a special project. To read more about the installation at Hillwood, click here.
